THE DISREGARD OF PRECEDENT

(a public health nursing blog)

Today's public health nurses are faced with a litany of seemingly impossible challenges. One of the things that makes these nurses so incredibly special is that they rarely let little things, like "impossible," get in their way. From Florence Nightingale throwing open the windows, to Clara Barton's "defying the tyranny of precedent," to Lillian Wald's bold action in leveraging her position and relationships to solve social issues, we come from a long line of nurses who simply did what needed doing. This is a blog that explores today's issues and how we, as nurses, can continue cutting new paths for our communities.
